Jeremiah 4:11-12, 22-28
I knew when I picked out the scriptures for this month that I was going to regret it. I thought about it all week and I kept thinking “You know, we preached Jeremiah last week. He wasn’t a happy camper and he’s not happy this week either. He’s just in a bad mood, I think.” It’s weird the way the lectionary put these together because last week we read from later in Jeremiah, now we’re back to more the beginning of Jeremiah in chapter 4. His language is just so strong, it’s jarring. I just can’t imagine standing up here, no matter what went wrong, and looking at all of you and calling you stupid children.
