Mending Fences

This past weekend I was listening to an audiobook “Talking to Strangers,” by Malcolm Gladwell, and in one chapter he was talking about the relationship with Cuba and the spies and the counterintelligence spies. He was saying that research was done and that 56% of the time when somebody tells us something, we believe it. He was talking about these double spies from Cuba who were against the U.S. that none of our guys caught. They believed everything they said. Now 56% doesn’t sound to me like a lot but it’s over 50%, so over half the time if someone tells us something, we just take it at face value and we believe them. That’s our go-to as human beings. So even those trained in highly classified things, their go-to is trust. So what happens when that trust is broken….
