Scripture Reading: Jesus’ Sorrow for Jerusalem
I feel as though I need to apologize that I’m about to reference yet another current TV show that you may or may not be familiar with. NBC at 9 o’clock p.m., Monday through Thursday night, September through May, is where I generally may be found. The new normal is shows premiering at varying times throughout the year. Three weeks ago, a new show premiered in the Monday night slot. It’s called the “Enemy Within.” The show’s main character, Erica Sheppard, is a notorious CIA operative. She’s serving time in prison for allegedly committing treason against her own country. But viewers, like us, know that she was actually framed. Blackmailed by the terrorists that she was working to apprehend when working as an operative for the CIA. The terrorists use Shepherds’ twelve-year-old daughter to gain leverage over her and force Shepherd ultimately to, literally in seconds, have to choose between her daughter’s life and releasing the names of four of her CIA co-workers who are eventually killed because of her treasonous act.
