Living in the Mary-Moment

Scripture Reading: Mary Anoints Jesus at Bethany

I was gone last weekend. I had the opportunity to be a part of our son Josh’s conducting recital, to witness that, but in addition. we had the opportunity to attend Mass on the campus of Notre Dame where Josh sings in one of the chapels during the mass service. He sings with a quartet which is part of his requirements as a graduate intern in the program there. During the service, we had the opportunity to listen to the priest deliver the homily for the day which was on last week’s lection. Last week’s lection, or lectionary text, was the ever-familiar parable of the prodigal son. That parable is the longest, and I’m guessing the most familiar, of Jesus parables. Now I’m respectfully assuming that many of you already know what the word prodigal actually means.
