It’s What’s Under Our Skin That Matters

Scripture Reading:

Today is racial justice Sunday across the country. In our denomination, the United Church of Christ, it is our intention to disrupt and dismantle racism. It always has been. In 1965, the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. spoke at General Synod 5 on the issue of racism and the church’s role in dismantling and eradicating it. After lifting up and celebrating all the advancements in science and medicine King profoundly stated: “Through our scientific genius we have made of the world a neighborhood but we have failed to employ our moral and spiritual genius to make it of a brotherhood.”
