If It’s Good Enough For Handel, It’s Good Enough For Us

George Frederick Handel’s famous oratorio, Messiah, has been described by early music scholars as a commentary on Jesus Christ, the Messiah. Unlike opera of the baroque era, which focused more on the dramatic and visual aspects of storytelling, oratorios were meant to simply convey a story or message in verse and song utilizing some of the same components as opera, recitative, arias, and grand choruses but without all the theatrical effects.
