Scripture Reading: Hannah’s Prayer
Grace and peace be with you Plymouth UCC here in Burlington. It’s a joy to be here to celebrate your one hundred and sixtieth anniversary. Congratulations! I don’t know the name technically for that one. It’s maybe sesquicentennial plus ten or something like that, I don’t know. I have three recollections of Burlington. One came back to me as I was driving down here today. The church that I grew up in was located at 123 East Washington Street in Delavan and this church, if I’m not mistaken, is 124 West Washington, So there’s some kinship, plus we’re both congregational rooted churches, so there’s some kinship between the Delavan and the Burlington church. I also recollect fondly trying to run a track meet in Burlington and it smelled like chocolate everywhere, and I remember the legacy of the Reverend Trent Rockwell, and I give great thanks that you have had wonderful pastoral leadership through these years.
